Provide leadership in envisioning and creating the future.
a. Assure adherence to Affinity’s mission as the corporation develops /evolves.
b. Establish overall direction and priorities for moving mission forward. Empower CEO to operationalize them.
i. Provide energy, inspiration for new initiatives and future focus consistent with mission.
ii. Serve as early warning system for environmental problems/opportunities that could affect the future direction of Affinity.
iii. Respond to management policy and program proposals.
Ensure that the Board provides effective governance for Affinity.
a. Select, recruit, orient new Board members.
b. Ensure Board members, individually and collectively, have skills, knowledge, diversity of perspectives needed to provide Affinity with visionary leadership, informed opinions, effective oversight.
c. Ensure Board as a whole and individual Board members meet fiduciary responsibilities and fulfill obligations to Affinity in ways that add value to the organization.
Provide effective stewardship in assuring executive performance and appropriate use of organizational resources.
a. Select, guide, support, and evaluate CEO.
b. Ensure legal and financial integrity and organizational accountability.
i. Ensure organization is financially secure and has resources needed to carry out work.
ii. Oversee program implementation to ensure delivery of quality programs that reflect /advance Affinity’s mission /goals.
iii. Ensure corporate compliance.
Ensure appropriate linkages to the organization’s key stakeholders and communities served by the organization.
a. Understand and represent needs, perspectives, and interests of Affinity’s stakeholders in all their diversity and complexity.
b. Ensure ongoing two-way communication with stakeholders.
