The Position:
Hunter College is seeking an outstanding individual to become the Director of Alumni Relations and Annual Fund (“Director”) a newly created position within Hunter’s Department of Institutional Advancement. Reporting to the Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, the Director will lead all aspects of the College’s outreach efforts to alumni, annual donors, and friends. As a member of the Institutional Advancement Department’s senior management team, the Director will also be responsible for achieving alumni and annual fund campaign goals and will supervise a staff of five professionals.
The Director must be an ambitious and creative leader, a highly skilled manager, and a visionary thinker who has the ability to consider the full range of opportunities that will address the needs of the College. In addition, he or she must be highly intelligent, skilled at strategic analysis and planning, an excellent communicator, a hands-on manager, and extremely organized. The Director must be able to work closely with Hunter College staff at all levels to promote an open, inclusive environment that emphasizes cooperation and teamwork with a minimum of ego.
Specific Responsibilities:
· Develop measurable goals and metrics and routinely monitor impact of alumni relations and annual campaign
· Drive the annual campaign implementing direct mail programs, telemarketing, one-on-one solicitation opportunities, reunion giving and class gift programs
· Identify new alumni relations programs such as the Hall of Fame, Annual Luncheon, regional and special interest chapters, mentoring program and outreach to younger alumni
· Identify new alumni constituencies and oversee development of new initiatives to engage them
· Collaborate with communications staff in the preparation of publications, informational materials and other communications to further alumni relations and annual campaign goals
· Manage and implement a renewed interactive marketing and online plan, that informs, educates, acknowledges and motivates alumni at the varying stages of their careers, personal lives and connection to the schools and programs within Hunter
· Plan and coordinate special events that further alumni relations and annual campaign goals
· Oversee effective usage of Institutional Advancement’s development data base (Millennium) by staff within alumni affairs and annual campaign; ensure that data is entered accurately, timely and completely
· Oversee development and systemization of work processes that contribute to accomplishment of goals and overall efficiency and effectiveness of alumni affairs and annual campaign activities, including stewardship
· Manage interface between the alumni affairs and annual campaign activities and the President’s office, ensuring smooth and timely flow of communication
· Supervise staff and manage budget as appropriate
