Opis pracovnej pozície
Computers for Youth (CFY) is the nation\'s leader in improving the Home Learning Environment of low-income school children. CFY works across the country to educate thought leaders and policymakers on the importance of expanding educational priorities to include learning in the home. Since 1999, CFY has developed high-impact interventions to strengthen the home learning environment among middle school students, with programs now operating in New York City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area. Its signature Take IT Home program helps educators build stronger home-school connections and provides families with the key ingredients required to improve their home learning environment -- a home computer loaded with selected educational software; online family learning services; information about affordable broadband options and hands-on training designed to help parents become more effective learning partners. Studies confirm that CFY’s programs have significantly improved students’ test scores and class effort and have increased parents’ confidence and involvement. To extend the impact of its work and strengthen the home learning field, CFY also operates an Affiliate Network of 29 organizations in 19 states and the District of Columbia. For more information, please visit www.cfy.org. With significant support from two important federal grant awards announced recently, CFY will be expanding and improving its program significantly. The Manager of Learning and Curriculum Design will manage CFY’s programmatic goals around learning and curriculum design for students, parents and teachers, while also helping build CFY’s internal team and external partners around CFY’s curriculum. Specifically, this individual will focus on enhancing CFY’s Family Learning Workshop curriculum, developing CFY’s Teacher Workshop curriculum, and working with teachers to create curricular materials around educational games that will be shared via CFY’s future teacher collaboration website. The Manager of Learning and Curriculum Design will report directly to the Director of Product Management, and will have a strong role in the strategic direction of CFY’s products. Key Responsibilities: • Lead the planning, forecasting and updating of CFY’s curricula (Family Learning Workshops, Family Trainer Workshops, Introductory/Secondary Teacher Workshops and new learning modules) for 125+ schools and 17,000+ families • Work with teachers to design lesson plans and curricula around CFY’s digital learning products, and help manage CFY’s online teacher community • Develop learning design strategies that will be built into CFY’s curricula and digital learning products • Develop business cases and feasibility studies for internal and external projects (e.g., applying for grants) • Communicate and promote CFY’s curricula internally and externally (e.g., through CFY’s School Integration Team, and CFY’s future teacher collaboration site) • Identify and track key metrics to measure progress • Conduct customer and market research (e.g., by holding focus groups with CFY families and teachers) • Remain at the forefront of curriculum design Because Saturday Family Learning Workshops are integral to CFY’s program, this position requires some work on Saturdays (up to 10 Saturdays per school year), with compensation days to be taken by the employee during the following week.Požiadavky na zamestnanca
