Opis pracovnej pozície

Position Summary Teach For America - Chicago seeks a director, growth strategy and development to focus on a number of long-term, high priority projects on the growth strategy and development team. These projects are critical for the region\'s ambitious goals for both corps size and funding growth and impact during the next three years. The director, growth strategy and development will work with the senior managing director of growth, strategy, and development on: developing the region\'s strategy and execution for public funding, creating an online marketing and giving campaign, the management of the region\'s junior board, and a variety of analytical projects addressing strategic issues for the region. Given the implications and importance of this work, we are seeking an individual who is willing to go above and beyond expectations in order to meet goals. About Teach For America Teach For America is the national corps of top recent college graduates who commit to teach for at least two years in urban and rural public schools and become lifelong leaders in the effort to expand educational opportunity. Our mission is to build the movement to eliminate educational inequity by enlisting the nation\'s most promising future leaders in the effort. Currently, over 7,300 first- and second-year Teach For America corps members are teaching in 35 regions across the United States, and we will grow to 39 regions this fall. Since 1990, Teach For America corps members have reached approximately 3 million students. Nearly 17,000 Teach For America alumni are working in education and many other fields, where they continue to advocate for students and families in low-income communities. While only 1 in 10 corps members say they were interested in the teaching profession before joining Teach For America, nearly two-thirds of our alumni remain in the field of education. We are a high-growth, outcomes-oriented organization, with a $185 million budget and over 1.500 staff. We operate in an entrepreneurial environment, maintain focus on quantitative measures, and are committed to continuous improvement. Team Overview Founded in 2000, Teach For America - Chicago has nearly 400 corps members reaching 60,000 students in Chicago and northwest Indiana public schools. An additional 900 alumni are working from all sectors to close the achievement gap in the area. 350 of those alumni remain in the classroom as teachers and an additional 27 are serving as school leaders. The region is supported by a funding base of $6.1 million, and regional staff members work to train and support corps members, continually strengthen relationships with local schools and districts, foster the leadership of local alumni, and continue to grow the regional funding base to ensure that Teach For America - Chicago can have an even greater impact. In fall 2010, the region will support a corps of 385 teachers, allowing the region to affect the educational outcomes of more than 60,000 students every year. The Chicago regional growth strategy and development team (GSD) works towards two major goals - raising the money required to fund corps members and placing corps members in high impact, strategic teaching positions in the Chicago area. The Chicago region and GSD are in the midst of launching an ambitious plan to grow our corps to more than 600 in the next three years, supported by more than $16 million. The vast majority of these corps members will be working in seven neighborhoods in Chicago, with a goal of reaching a critical mass of teachers in at least 40 schools in these neighborhoods. These proof points will provide evidence that enables further human capital policy changes on a larger, more sustainable, system-wide scale in Chicago. Responsibilities Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Leading the region\'s public funding effort, which includes state and district funding, as well as national Americorps funding. Responsibilities will include: Working closely with the SMD and Executive Director on developing Chicago\'s funding plan and then executing and monitoring progress to goal Managing one part-time lobbyist Managing the region\'s ongoing relationships with public funding agencies and ensuring compliance with these agencies\' requirements Leading a focused growth of Teach For America - Chicago\'s online marketing campaign, with a particular emphasis on developing a low-level giving campaign. This would require full strategy development and implementation, as well as monitoring progress to goal Managing the Chicago regional auxiliary board, which is a group of 20 young professionals in the city. Managing quarterly board meetings, monitoring development of an annual fundraising event (led by our development associate), and overseeing a series of other awareness events Analyzing historical and market data to set ambitious yet feasible revenue, donor quantity, and retention goals for the next three years and interim benchmarks for the public funding stream as well as the low-level giving campaign Developing and executing pitches and strategies to reach goals for different market segments Working autonomously on a range of other analytical projects in conjunction with the SMD and the executive director that answer strategic questions for the GSD team Benefits and Salary Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included. Anti-Discrimination Policy and Commitment to Diversity Teach For America seeks individuals of all ethnic and racial backgrounds to apply for this position. We are committed to maximizing the diversity of our organization, as we want to engage all those who can contribute to this effort.
