We are currently seeking a Training and Resource Manager for our Prince George’s County Teaching Fellows program in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Located in southern Maryland, just 30 minutes east of Washington, D.C., Prince George\'s County is comprised of 10 cities and 17 towns. The Training and Resource Manager will be a TNTP employee based out of Henry A. Wise, Jr. High School in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. This position is available beginning in August 2010. The Program The Prince George’s County Teaching Fellows is an initiative established in 2007 by The New Teacher Project in partnership with Prince George’s County public schools to help systematically increase the concentration of high-quality teachers in the city’s lowest performing schools and build a high-quality pipeline of new teachers to the district. The Prince George’s County Teaching Fellows recruit talented, motivated career-changers and recent college graduates dedicated to raising student achievement in the Prince George’s County Public Schools. Fellows train in the summer and begin teaching in high-need schools in the fall, earning a full-time salary while attending classes to earn their Maryland Standard Professional Certificate. For more information, please visit: http://www.pgcteachingfellows.org Role and Responsibilities The Training and Resource Manager will be responsible for the successful planning, implementation and evaluation of the Pre-service Training Institute. In addition, the Training and Resource Manager is responsible for ongoing program administration, which is connecting Fellows in their first and second year of teaching to resources throughout the school year to ensure their success in the classroom. Pre-Service Training Institute Responsibilities include but are not limited to: In June, Fellows will begin a five-week Pre-service Training Institute designed to prepare them for teaching in a high-need Prince George’s County public schools. Fellows will benefit from a curriculum with an emphasis on raising student achievement and will attend seminars and workshops on standards, foundations of teaching, and classroom management. Specifically, the Training and Resource Manager will be responsible for: • Leading hiring, training, and managing of PGCTF seasonal training staff • Implementing TNTP’s curricular framework and materials based on District initiatives, culture, and organization • Developing and implementing an operations and communications plan for the Training Institute • Planning for Training Institute opening and closing ceremonies including securing speakers, panelists, workshop presenters, etc. • Assisting with the management of pre-summer Fellow activities like school observations • Recruiting, hiring, and training Cooperating Teachers to work with Fellows during Summer School • Ensuring Fellows meet the objectives of the Training Institute curriculum • Assessing Fellows’ performance during Training Institute by specifically tracking multiple performance data points to determine Fellows’ potential to be effective in the upcoming school year • Ensuring students participating in our summer school program achieve rigorous academic goals • Developing and maintaining relationships with District staff • Ensuring that each group of participants becomes a well connected cohort of teachers with a positive culture • Assessing faculty performance in order to continually improve Training Institute quality Program Administrative Support Responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Acting as the main contact person for Fellow concerns (instructional and administrative) • Providing and/or coordinating classroom observations for Fellows • Producing and distributing monthly newsletters for the PGCTF program • Planning and facilitating regular professional development meetings during the school year • Ensuring all Fellows receive a district assigned Mentor • Developing and implementing systems to assess and track ongoing Fellow performance • Designing next steps for Fellows aligned with data and trends on Fellow performance • Identifying development areas for struggling Fellows and developing targeted improvement plans • Developing structures to ensure that Fellows fulfill our program mission of increasing student achievement, including monitoring and analyzing student achievement data when available This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to have a profound impact on how teachers are prepared to teach in hard-to-staff schools in Prince George’s County.Požiadavky na zamestnanca
