Lakeside School, an independent coeducational day school located in North Seattle, is currently recruiting for a Director of Global Education. The purpose of this position is to oversee, develop, evaluate, and promote the overall global education program at Lakeside. This position will have one direct report, the Global Programs Associate Director, and report jointly to the Head of School and the Assistant Head of School/Middle School Director. Responsibilities: 1. Review and assess the current Global Service Learning (GSL) program and develop a vision and strategic plan for the next phase of the program (GSL Phase II). 2. Oversee all GSL program operations including project leadership; program staffing; site selection; partnerships with community-based organization; on-site service work, pre-trip and post-trip curriculum. Implement revisions and changes to the program as called for by GSL Phase II. 3. Supervise and evaluate the Global Programs Associate Director whose primary responsibility is to carry out the GSL Phase II plan. 4. Develop a vision and plan for a global conference at Lakeside School in June 2012. This conference will bring in first-rate speakers to present on major trends and big ideas in the world today; it will be attended by independent school heads and division directors from across the country. 5. Research all aspects of setting up a semester-long global program in Peru. Develop a Lakeside School Peru Semester model. 6. Collaborate with Lakeside faculty on global curriculum and in coordination with the Upper School Director, administer the staffing and development of the Upper School “Global Literacy” course (a requirement for GSL students beginning in 2012). 7. Manage the Lakeside Intercultural Program (LIP) and work with the head of school and assistant heads of school to determine the future of the LIP program, its philosophy, and its purpose. 8. Manage the School Year Abroad (SYA) program application process. 9. Coordinate the Global Community Theme program. 10. Work with the Board of Trustees’ Global Education Committee on all matters related to global education at Lakeside School. 11. Manage all global program budgets.
