Position Overview iMentor seeks an experienced fundraising professional eager to lead the strategy to make individual income into a significant and sustainable source of revenue for iMentor. Reporting to the Managing Director of Development, the Director of Individual Giving (a new position at iMentor) will focus on and be responsible for increasing gifts from three groups: (1) assisting the CEO and Managing Director of Development with major gifts; (2) identifying, cultivating, and soliciting mid-level donors; (3) creating and implementing strategies to convert mentors into donors. Additionally, the Director of Individual Giving will oversee a Development Manager to create and execute events to cultivate individual donors, implement online fundraising tools/campaigns, and manage gift reporting and acknowledgment. S/he will start on the heels of iMentor’s first ever fundraising gala which raised over $3.5 million and will work closely with the Managing Director of Development to convert gala attendees into ongoing donors. iMentor is entering the third year of a five-year growth period; during this period, the organization is significantly scaling fundraising efforts to support the ambitious growth. The Director of Individual Giving will play a crucial role during this growth period taking on the challenge of more than doubling iMentor’s individual donor base in 2010-11 and continuing to increase individual funder’s contributions in future years. The ideal candidate will have exemplary relationship building skills, the ability to listen and create a tailored pitch, and be excited by the responsibility of being accountable for significantly increasing individual contributions to iMentor. S/he will be an effective manager, able to manage his/her own work while overseeing the work of others. S/he will be committed to iMentor’s vision to build a national mentoring movement; flexible and adaptable; results, detail, and deadline oriented; and a team player. The Director of Individual Giving will join the diverse, passionate, results-oriented, and fun staff at iMentor, one of the nation’s most innovative and quickly growing nonprofits, recently recognized as one of the 50 Best Nonprofits to Work for in 2010 by The Nonprofit Times. Responsibilities * Create and implement a strategy to attract new individual donors for iMentor. * Support, retain, and increase current donors’ support for and involvement with iMentor. * Support the CEO and Managing Director of Development with major donors, including managing donor pipeline and solicitation and stewardship schedules. * Significantly increase the number of mentors who donate to iMentor implementing best practices in converting volunteers to financial supporters. * Create compelling materials for solicitations including customized correspondence to convey iMentor’s mission and impact, and consult on organizational-wide communications collateral. * Oversee events strategy and execution, collaborating with the Volunteer Department, Young Executive Board, and others to leverage events to cultivate prospective donors and volunteers. * Manage online fundraising strategy, identifying effective social media campaigns and online giving tools. * Supervise a Development Manager to create and execute events, implement online fundraising tools/campaigns, and manage gift reporting and acknowledgment. * Support organization-wide and development department initiatives.
