We are currently seeking a Selection and Training Manager for our New York City Teaching Fellows (NYCTF) program. NYCTF is a program of the NYC Department of Education that is based at the school district’s Brooklyn offices and staffed with TNTP employees. The Selection and Training Manager will be a TNTP employee based in Brooklyn, NY. This position is available to begin in September, 2010. The Program Because effective teachers dramatically increase their students\' academic success, the mission of the NYC Teaching Fellows program is to recruit and prepare high-quality, dedicated individuals to become teachers who raise student achievement in the New York City classrooms that need them most. From over 165,000 applicants over the past ten years, NYCTF has provided New York City classrooms with over 15,000 high-quality new teachers, concentrated in high-need subject areas such as bilingual education, math, science, Spanish, and special education. The NYC Teaching Fellows program is the largest alternative certification program in the country and among the most selective. For more information, please visit www.nycteachingfellows.org. Role and Responsibilities The Selection and Training Manager will rotate seasonally between the Selection and Training and Support teams. This position will focus on ensuring the quality of the candidates who become NYC Teaching Fellows and positively affecting the induction, preparation and evaluation of the Fellows during their pre-service training. Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: • Ensuring the effective implementation of a specific selection model for the evaluation of ~10,000 applications and ~4500 candidates interviewed per year • Recruiting, hiring, training and supervising a team of part-time staff members who are responsible for the implementation of our selection model • Developing high-quality training, support and evaluation tools to ensure quality of selection decisions • Reporting regularly to TNTP staff and site clients on staff performance and model implementation • Orchestrating the logistics of interview events and pre-service training • Planning and executing a high-quality summer pre-service training program • Modifying and overseeing the delivery of the pre-service training framework • Recruiting, hiring, training and supervising a team of seasonal staff members who are responsible for teaching and coaching Fellows during pre-service training • Collecting and analyzing data relating to all aspects of Fellows’ pre-service training to recommend and implement ongoing program improvement • Reporting regularly to TNTP staff and site clients on Fellow performance throughout pre-service training This position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to have a profound impact on how teachers are prepared to teach and the quality of teachers in schools throughout New York City.Požiadavky na zamestnanca
