The Communications Manager will play a key role in an ambitious five-year national advocacy Opportunity To Learn Campaign to change the frame of the nation’s public education debate to instill resource equity and accountability and ensure that all children have a fair and substantive opportunity to learn. The ideal candidate has the ability to think strategically and will have experience with newspaper, magazine, radio and TV media outreach as well as extensive online and social media experience. The Manager will also be able to lead innovative strategies for the Opportunity To Learn Campaign’s communications hub website, directing the annual National OTL Public Education Summit and conducting events around the country. Responsibilities: The Communications Manager reports to the Vice President for Strategy and Program Development. Duties and responsibilities include: •Create a comprehensive media strategy to increase the profile of and strengthen the Opportunity To Learn Campaign, promote substantive coverage of educational resource issues, increase traffic to OTL’s website, and build the number of email supporters and actions taken via the website. •Write/edit email alerts, blog posts, tweets, Facebook updates and other materials to extend outreach and keep OTL supporters informed about the Campaign. •Develop performance measures to assess the reach and impact of the OTL Campaign’s online presence and feature media coverage, and provide reports to share with Campaign funders. •Oversee production of web-based, print, video and other multi-media presentation materials to promote the OTL Campaign and serve as tools to support activism. •Oversee the management and production of the Hot Schott Awards Gala, the National Opportunity To Learn Education Summit, and other Opportunity To Learn events.
