Mission: Develop the Strategic Plan. Determine the policies, procedures, and regulations for the enhancement of Volunteers of America Bay Area; Raise funds to finance the organization and its programs; Monitor the organization\'s performance and development. Term of Office: Two years is the basic term of office. A Board Member may not serve more than four (4) consecutive terms. Meeting Attendance: Regular monthly meetings Standing Committee (4 to 6, meeting days & times may vary) Ad hoc Committee (as appointed) Special Events (as announced) Occasionally: VOABA special program events (attend as a Representative of the Board of Directors) Responsible to: Chair, Board of Directors Responsibilities: 1) Establish policies for administering programs and services that are harmony in with the mission of Volunteers of America Bay Area. 2) To periodically question whether current and proposed programs and services are consistent with Volunteers of America Bay Area\'s stated mission, purpose, and meeting the needs of the community 3) Secure and manage funds required for current expenses effectively by mobilizing the entire volunteer and staff for active participation in funding efforts. 4) Ensure that fmancial responsibility of Volunteers of America Bay Area is conducted fiscally and in accordance with established policies. 5) Support the President/CEO by providing frequent and constructive feedback. This may include introductions to other community leaders, board members of other non-profits, or securing an invitation to a very important social function where contacts can be made. 6) The annual review of the President/CEO who reports to the Board of Directors should be conducted fairly and sensitively, based on previously stated goals and objectives 7) To be an ambassador within the community, by speaking of Volunteers of America Bay Area\'s achievements and contributions to the public good. 8). To evaluate on an annual basis to see how the entire Board and its President/CEO is performing, thus, assuring the effectiveness of Volunteers of America Bay Area never wanes. Attendance at Board Meetings — participation as a policy maker and planner are extremely important. 1. Attend regularly and on time Become well informed (in advance) on all agenda items Participate in the meetings and contribute knowledge and express points of view based on experience Consider other points of view, make constructive suggestions, and help the Board make group decisions reflecting the thinking of the total group. 2. Attendance at meetings of standing committees, as well as any Special ad hoc committees to which appointed. 3. Contribute financially to Volunteers of America Bay Area at the designated level. 4. Assume leadership in agency funding efforts. 5. Assume Board leadership responsibilities as requested and as possible. 6. Represent Volunteers of America Bay Area at community events as well as with personal and professional contacts. 7. Be informed about Volunteers of America Bay Area\'s programs, policies, and services. 8. Be informed about the needs of the community, society, and constituents.
