The Program Director for the Global Health will be the first to assume this role and will help shape and define the program that will improve the health of impoverished people. Numerous programs and billions of dollars in aid have proven successful, primarily in disease-specific solutions, the most effective example being PEPFAR, with its emphasis on data collection, accountability, and local responsibility. Integrated care, however, is still a problem. Local infrastructure is severely lacking and large programs are not structured to collaborate or integrate. The Global Health Program will address these issues and integrate the efforts of multiple organizations, lowering delivery costs and improving the clinical outcomes. The Institute holds a several distinctive advantages in this area: • Track record of success by President Bush on AIDS and malaria • Unique ability to convene and mobilize leaders of afflicted nations • Trust of citizens of afflicted nations and of NGOs, businesses and others delivering care Strategic vision • Create a distinctive strategy for Global Health that contributes to Institute aims and objectives • Define program goals and objectives • Lead efforts to research the landscape of opportunity in global health • Identify key stakeholders, leading-edge thinkers, subject matter experts and other leverage points in the area, including private sector, social enterprise, governments, private citizens and other organizations around the world • Remain current on and understand the issues, challenges, opportunities, trends, innovations and other developments in global health • Secure buy-in and commitment for the strategy from key stakeholders • Modify the strategy over time to reflect environment and marketplace changes Program operations • Lead efforts to develop innovative programs that support the strategy • Develop long- and short-term operational plans that ensure a well-executed line of work • Oversee all aspects of program execution, working collaboratively with internal and external team members to ensure success of programs—serve as single point of accountability • Lead the identification and evaluation of action partners and ensure the relationships remain strong and healthy as programs evolve • Maintain a knowledge base of potential partners and their strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats • Manage staff, consultants, advisory councils and partners contributing to the programs • Continuously monitor progress compared to defined objectives and regularly report outcomes and progress to a broad set of stakeholders • Lead efforts to resolve problems, influence action, inspire teamwork, remove barriers, create innovations, re-design processes and re-think approaches in order to achieve program goals and Institute strategic objectives Leadership and staff development • Recruit, retain and develop a small team • Help identify and recruit leading-edge scholars, executives and/or other thought-leaders to serve as Institute Fellows in Global Health • Monitor the activities and results of Global Health Fellows against operational plans and budgets • Work collaboratively with all team members to support a positive and productive work environment, consistent with Institute values and mission • Along with the fund-raising team, design partnership and sponsorship agreements to support program delivery • As a member of the Program Management Office, champion the Institute methodology and continuously innovate on processes External relations and communication • Represent the Institute’s Global Health programs in the media, in external speaking engagements to high-level audiences and with other stakeholder groups • Oversee Global Health content management as part of the Institute’s overall online presence (web, social media, etc.) • Work with marketing to describe the unique advantage, value proposition and benefits of Global Health programs to key audiences and ensure consistency of key messages • Oversee a communication/marketing plan for Global Health that inspires target audiences to engage and act • Network regularly with thought leaders in global healthPožiadavky na zamestnanca
