We are currently seeking a Project Director, Communications for our Policy Team. The Project Director, Communications will lead our Communications strategy for an initiative to transform teacher human capital management in our partner district, the Houston Independent School District (HISD) and will be based in the school district office in Houston. This position is available immediately. HISD’s Teacher Human Capital Management Transformation HISD employs approximately 12,700 teachers who teach in 296 different schools. In the 2007–2008 school year, HISD launched ASPIRE (Accelerating Student Progress. Increasing Results and Expectations), its educational-improvement and performance-management model. ASPIRE comprises four key components, including Developing Human Capital. Since the launch of ASPIRE, the district has garnered national attention for its use of value-added data to guide instructional decision-making and drive a system of differentiated compensation. The district is now seeking to leverage these reform efforts to maximize its impact on student achievement by reaching these student outcomes. 1. Becoming the first district in the country to eradicate the racial achievement gap 2. Having 100 percent of students reading and doing math on grade level as measured by Stanford 10 in all grades tested 3. Leading the nation in NAEP reading and math scores in grades 4 and 8 among all districts across America Research underscores the impact a teacher can have on student success and reinforces why HISD must continue to transform is human capital systems by focusing on four key strategies to reach the bold student outcomes outlined above. These strategies are as follows: • Strengthen recruiting and staffing policies and practices to attract top talent • Establish a rigorous and fair teacher-appraisal system to inform key decisions • Provide effective individualized support and professional development for teachers • Offer meaningful career pathways and differentiated compensation to retain and leverage the most-effective teachers TNTP will support HISD’s human capital transformation through a five-year initiative to drive the strategic direction of the transformation effort; develop new tools and processes; coordinate and monitor school-level implementation activities; and build stakeholder buy-in for reform. Role and Responsibilities The Project Director, Communications helps ensure the success of this initiative by leading the communications strategy for HISD’s human capital transformation, in partnership with HISD leadership and Communications staff. Specifically, he or she develops communications messages for all key stakeholders, including team members, clients, union representatives, community members, teacher and school leaders; develops communications policies; and ensures the communications strategy is implemented consistently. The Project Director, Communications will report to the Senior Partner and will serve as a resource to other staff members on their work. Specific responsibilities will include but are not limited to: • Design and execute a two-way communications strategy to ensure that stakeholders receive regular, informative, and accurate updates on goals and activities; that communications build stakeholder buy-in for the initiative; and that stakeholders have frequent opportunities to ask questions and give feedback on the initiative • Develop content for multiple media, including emails, website content, and in-person presentations • Manage interactions and cultivate relationships with the press related to the initiative, including fielding requests for interviews, identifying opportunities to use op-eds and other press encounters to build public support for the initiative, and monitoring press reporting on the initiative • Build and apply deep understanding of the Houston education community, including stakeholders, priorities, and historical challenges by: o Attending and/or representing TNTP at local community and statewide meetings and events o Researching HISD’s history, legislative underpinnings, and portfolio of schools • Revise and approve all communications for teachers and school leaders, including newsletters, training and orientation materials, speeches, etc. • Work with all site staff to ensure that high-quality messages are consistently delivered to all stakeholders • Collaborate and support other Project Directors with all communications and reporting needs, including training materials for teachers, school leaders, and other HISD employees • Support the Senior Partner and other site staff members as neededPožiadavky na zamestnanca
