The Position: BCNYS is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to be its next VP of Membership. Reporting to the President and CEO, he or she will be responsible for leading and managing the Council’s business recruitment, nurturing its 2500 plus members across New York State, cultivating and sustaining Major Corporate Members, and providing first-class customer service. The VP of Membership is a critical, highly visible position requiring demonstrated success in sales, customer service, and management, with strong leadership experience. The Business Council has assembled a strong leadership team and a successful collaborative relationship between the VP of Membership, professional staff, and the volunteer leadership of the Council will be critical. He or she must be highly intelligent, a leader and a self-starter who shares the Council’s view of the opportunity to advance economic growth in New York. He or she will most likely have significant experience in business and/or trade associations that may include business councils, chambers of commerce, and/or economic development organizations, with demonstrated accomplishments and successes. In addition, experience in or a strong understanding of government in the New York environment will be necessary. The successful candidate must be a hands-on manager, a strategic thinker and planner, a problem solver, and an effective sales person. Excellent oral and written communication skills are critical. He or she must be comfortable in making presentations before large and small businesses and corporations. He or she must be able to work closely with the volunteer leadership and professionals to promote a member service environment that emphasizes cooperation and teamwork with a minimum of ego. In addition, he or she will be bright, diplomatic, analytical, of the highest integrity, and possess sound judgment as well as a sense of humor. The Business Council is based in Albany, New York. The organization also maintains an office in New York City. The VP of Membership may work from either location. Travel throughout the state and beyond is required. Specific Responsibilities: · Recruit new membership and retain all Business Council members including Major Members who participate at higher dues investment levels. · Develop and implement marketing plans, sales strategies and tactics. · Plan and direct stages of membership development, including research, identifying potential businesses, selling new memberships, orientation, and renewal. · Provide leadership to an internal account management structure to ensure that business members’ needs are met to foster retention of current members and the successful integration of new business members. · Clearly articulate and promote the Council’s mission and objectives to the business community. · Diligently plan, develop and manage membership budget of the Council. · Supervise staff with membership responsibilities. · Ensure that the membership information system is accurate and meets the needs of the department and other users.Požiadavky na zamestnanca
