Safe Space NYC The Vice President of External Affairs (“VP”) will provide leadership and supervision to a newly formed division overseeing a full complement of organizational advancement efforts: development, communications and marketing, public policy, and board relations. He or she will be responsible for developing and articulating a visionary strategic plan for external affairs that will strengthen relationships with donors, public officials and all other constituencies. The VP will be expected to create excitement about the important work of Safe Space, build capacity within the development department based on best practices, and partner with the President/CEO and Board of Trustees to raise the organization’s visibility and increase revenue. The candidate must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a supportive and direct manor with a minimum of ego. He or she will also have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, a hands on management style and the ability to address and solve problems and issues as they arrive. In addition, he or she will be diplomatic, of the highest integrity, and possess sound judgment as well as a sense of humor. Specific Responsibilities: Fundraising · Work closely with the President/CEO and constituencies to plan and execute a comprehensive development program based on long and short-term needs. · Institute policies, systems and procedures; oversee the development budget to maximize resources, manage and evaluate staff; set and achieve department goals. · Implement and oversee the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of both private and public funders. · Work with the development staff to establish fund development programs including the annual fund, capital campaign, special projects, and planned giving. · Work collaboratively on Public Special Events; provide support, guidance and tactical assistance where needed. · Establish a Board development committee. Communications and Marketing · Oversee the communications efforts for all publicity, promotion and public information activities as well as writing, editing and producing program brochures, annual reports, the website, and other written material. · Create and execute a broad based marketing strategy to promote a favorable public image to internal and external audiences. · Monitor the budget to maximize resources. Board of Directors · Participate in the identification and cultivation of potential Board Members and other members of the volunteer leadership. · Along with the President/CEO’s office, oversee the scheduling and coordination of Board committees. · Establish strong relations with the Board; find ways to best utilize the Board’s expertise to help the organization achieve its strategic and fundraising goals. Public Policy · Work with the President/CEO to address the diverse interests of elected officials and policy professionals to help them better understand the needs of the community served by Safe Space. · Identify and cultivate positive working relationships with public officials who can provide financial support for Safe Space’s policy department initiatives. · Oversee government and community relations.Požiadavky na zamestnanca
