Position Type: Contract or Commission Based Overview: Boston Public Market Association is a not-for-profit 501(c)3 organization whose mission is to facilitate the creation of a permanent year-round market providing fresh and locally produced foods to city residents, at a reasonable price. Our goal is to leverage new and existing partnerships, sponsorships, and manage fundraising activities that will generate revenue over $1 million dollars annually from individuals, corporate, government and foundation donors. The Fund Raising Consultant will report to the President of the Board of Directors and will work closely with both the Executive Committee and Board of Directors. This person will be a critical part of driving the organization’s success to the next level so that we can develop our permanent year-round market in the Greater Boston area. Specific Responsibilities: Fundraising and Development: • Create the fundraising strategy and manage the fundraising goals and objectives. • Working in close partnership with the President of the Board of Directors to oversee all aspects of revenue plan execution, including the growth and management of individual, corporate, government, and foundation donors. • Work with the President of the Board of Directors to research, identify, and cultivate new foundation, individual, government and corporate funders. • Develop and implement effective appeals (both written and online) to individual donors. • Write effective and successful grant proposals. • Promote Boston Public Market Association and its fundraising objectives through the execution of major events. Partnerships and Public Relations: • Engage local supporters in initiatives that will garner media attention and build the Boston Public Market brand. • Represent our organization in all relevant local forums in order to increase visibility.
