The foundation\'s U.S. Program works with a range of partners toward greater opportunity for all Americans largely through the attainment of secondary and postsecondary education. By making college and other forms of education both accessible to and successful for all, we hope to help break the intergenerational cycle of poverty that prevents families and communities from opportunities to reach their full potential. The Senior Program Officer for Research will develop and manage a portfolio of research investments to test the assertions of and provide an evidence base for the strategic goals and objectives of the Next Generation Models initiative within the College Ready strategy.This role will partner closely with the Next Generation Models (NGM) team to design a holistic, multi-year research agenda in support of the team\'s strategic priorities. He/She will then be responsible for executing against that agenda: developing learning objectives, research project designs and methodologies, selection of grantees or contractors, and project oversight/management. She/he will be required to . Understand the overall College Ready and NGM strategies and its implementation; to identify the key questions raised, and to identify or design potential studies to illuminate them. . Develop and review calls for proposals and other kinds of solicitations of new research investments. . Manage grants and contracts including tracking milestones and deliverables, payment schedules, and reporting requirements of assigned grantees and contractors. . Prepare internal briefing papers and analyses on issues and topics of concern. . Help ensure research findings are used in an ongoing way to inform program and strategic decisions. . Represent the foundation in a variety of settings (e.g., conferences, meeting grantees and practitioners in the field).The research and evidence base in the NGM area (including online learning, hybrid learning models, social learning environments the use of games in education, etc) is nascent, and this position has the opportunity and expectation to help break new ground in the field.Potential research areas will include: evaluations of the impact of emerging schooling models that are on the cusp of scaling; studying some of the assumptions that are key to those models such as personalized learning plans for students; trying to identify what specific parts of an intervention are fundamental to their success at scale.Members of the R&D team work closely with other program officers and staff during all phases of project development and management to create a cohesive and impactful investment portfolio in a complex collaborative work environment
