POSITION TITLE: Lower School Assistant Principal REPORTS TO: Principal POSITION SUMMARY: The Lower School Assistant Principal will work collaboratively with the Lower School Dean of Students to anchor the core values of Ross Global Academy (RGA) and foster positive interaction among key school stakeholders. This member of the RGA leadership team will help manage and oversee the Lower School’s educational program and learning environment to ensure that all educational practices, policies and procedures are effectively implemented and evaluated. ROSS GLOBAL ACADEMY OVERVIEW Ross Global Academy Charter School is currently a K-8 school that aims to develop students’ capacity for critical thinking, cultural appreciation, global leadership, and life-long learning and well-being. The school is modeled on the Ross School in East Hampton, adapting the key design element for New York City public school students. Ross strives to cultivate students who are exposed to a rich array of cultural, historical and scientific ideas through intensive interdisciplinary study. The school is founded on a set of core values: • Respect for yourself, others, and the environment • Responsibility • Integrity • Courage • Mindfulness • Cooperation • Gratitude RESPONSIBILITIES: Instructional Leadership • Provide instructional leadership for the Lower School in planning, management, operation, and evaluation of RGA’s Kindergarten – 5th grade educational program • Manage and implement professional development opportunities for staff by evaluating lesson plans, observing classes on a regular basis, and providing ongoing feedback and actionable recommendations to RGA teachers • Use the Responsive Classroom model as a foundation from which to leverage formal and informal professional development activities; train teachers in the use of research- and project-based instructional strategies and interdisciplinary integration of curricula • Oversee and implement RGA’s integrated assessment program (to include Terra Nova, DRA, Acuity and authentic assessments); lead teachers in effectively analyzing, understanding, and utilizing achievement data to plan instruction and make individualized and group student learning plans • Collaborate with the Principal to establish the annual master schedule for instructional programs and student placement, ensuring appropriate sequential learning experiences • Collaborate with the Principal on long-term planning for the Lower School, the development of the Annual Calendar, and the networking of shared best practices across RGA’s school campus School Culture • Collaborate with RGA’s leadership team to ensure goal alignment and uniformly guide the strategic direction of the school • Continually model, reinforce and provide professional development for staff to integrate RGA core values into Lower School classrooms, community meetings, advisory, etc. • Work with Lower School staff to foster respectful, productive classroom environments and collaborative learning experiences • Assume responsibility for maintaining positive relations with RGA families and school stakeholders • Assume responsibility for planning faculty meetings, parent-teacher conferences, school activities, and school exhibits Student Discipline • Collaborate with the MS Vice Principal, MS Dean of Students, and Principal to establish procedures for executing RGA’s discipline and attendance policies, including the school’s code of conduct; communicate discipline and attendance policies to faculty, student and parents • Train and assist faculty in handling student discipline in the classroom • Collaborate with the Principal to address serious breaches of discipline; contact parents to discuss discipline issues; facilitate telephone discussions between faculty, parents and students, as appropriate • Maintain discipline records, as required, looking for patterns of behavior and consulting with the Principal regarding their resolution • Initiate and implement incentive programs to aid compliance to student discipline and other policies (eg recognition, prizes, and contests) • Inform students and parents of the RGA dress code and monitor compliance • Coordinate the afternoon transition, contacting parents, if needed; address chronic late parent pickups and assist with caretaking while students wait Operations • Oversee recruitment, selection and hiring of high-quality Lower School faculty • Provide appropriate supervision and ensure professional growth among faculty • Schedule faculty; coordinate substitutes, volunteers and temporary staff, as needed • Review reports of faculty and staff leave and vacation, addressing chronic problems and initiating any necessary pay adjustmentsPožiadavky na zamestnanca
