Principal Engineer, Research Haemonetics Key Characteristics: This position is responsible for the investigation, and proposed invention and development of new devices and protocols aimed to provide customers with high quality blood products in a cost efficient manner. Key Responsibilities: Advises R&D, Regulatory, Clinical and Business Units on technical/scientific issues related to evaluation of ideas for new products, selection of new materials or claims made by Haemonetics, its competitors or suppliers. Partners with other business units to understand and meet customers’ needs through development of new product concepts while ensuring manufacturability, serviceability and reliability. Evaluates new and emerging technologies that could be used to improve the quality of Haemonetics products. Develops theoretical models and performs laboratory experiments to show potential directions that could lead to product improvements or support the evaluation of new product proposals. Designs research initiatives and develops highly advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities. Manages projects through appropriate documentation project plans and test protocols to ensure that timelines are met and ensure product integrity. Education and Experience Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical or Mechanical Engineering, Master’s Degree preferred Minimum of 10 years experience in research and development, preferably in Medical Devices development and regulatory environment Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity and resourcefulness
