Tesla’s Test Engineering is seeking a high-powered multi-disciplinary individual who can rapidly adapt to the task at hand, whether it involves hardware, software, or low-level firmware. The ideal candidate would be a self-starter who can be given a task & deadline, and independently develop an elegant solution with minimal supervision. Proven ability to get the job done right is the most important skill. An ability to rapidly learn/come up to speed as evidenced by a knowledge of current technologies and skills is a key asset. This position involves creating real-world devices, so the ability to “roll up one’s sleeves” and actually take a concept through design, building, testing and convert it into a real-life functioning product is paramount. Very few jobs offer the ability to utilize such a broad range of skills simultaneously, and that is a major advantage to working at Tesla. It’s never boring. In one day, you might go from Assembling a PXI chassis to debugging PIC assembly code to writing .NET components or designing LabView GUIs. Primary Job Responsibilities Key member of a cross functional test product test development team. Work directly with design engineers and contract manufactures to create product manufacturing test plans. Design, fabrication and programming of automated functional test equipment for the manufacture of electronic and electromechanical equipment. (PCBA & Electronic modules) Develop diagnostics and test software for electronics circuits. Develop test process and procedures. Lead contract test development vendors in the development and introduction of test processes and equipment. Program test equipment control and data management. Job Requirements (Knowledge, skills, abilities, experience required to perform job) B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent. Five years, hands on, experience with electronic functional test equipment design. Proven leadership and of small technical teams. Excellent communication and project documentation skills Electronic circuit design. Electronic and electromechanical fixture design Experience in LabView, Teststand and Visual Studio .NET Experience with high power AC & DC circuits a plus, Knowledge of New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Lifecycle (PLC) processes. Knowledge of Design For Manufacturability & Design For Testability principles. Knowledge of Ongoing Reliability Testing (ORT)
